Lincolnshire Agricultural Society Opens Nominations for their Chosen Charity of the Year Initiative

The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS) is once again opening its doors to local charities, inviting them to apply for our prestigious Chosen Charity of the Year Scheme. The initiative is designed to provide comprehensive support to a selected charity, amplifying its impact on the community throughout the year. Previous charities have included St Barnabas, Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and the Jon Egging Trust.

A Year of Opportunities

The chosen Charity will benefit from a myriad of opportunities provided by the LAS, throughout the year, aimed at enhancing their visibility and reach to a range of different audiences. These include:

Free Trade Stand: The selected charity will have a free trade stand at all LAS events, including the renowned Lincolnshire Show.

Community Presentations: Opportunities to present their work to the wider community, raising awareness about their cause.

Newsletter Features: Inclusion in LAS newsletters and e-shots, reaching a vast audience through established communication channels.

Advertising: Advertising opportunities across various platforms at the Lincolnshire Show and Lincolnshire Showground.

And much more...

These benefits are crafted to not only support the charity's mission but also align with the LAS's objective of advancing education within the realms of food, farming, and a sustainable environment.

Application Process

Applications to become the LAS Charity of the Year are now open and will close on 30th September 2024. Shortlisted charities will be invited to present and showcase their charity's work at the LAS council meeting in November. The official activities and support will commence in January 2025.

Andrew Buckley, Chairman of The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating:

"Launching our Chosen Charity of the Year initiative is a sign of the Society's commitment to our own charitable objectives of engaging with the local community, providing a platform for the wonderful work many community charities provide. We have been a part of the fabric of Lincolnshire for 155 years now, supporting the communities that surround us.

"We already work with a number of allied charities in a variety of ways 365 days a year as well as supporting young people through our Trafford Farm Fund. The Charity of the Year scheme offers our community the chance to come together and get involved in supporting our chosen charity, and hopefully have some fun at the same time.

"We have a fantastic opportunity here to really help a local charity, allowing them to reach audiences on mass through the likes of The Lincolnshire Show, which attracts 60 thousand visitors each year."

Separate from the Trafford Farm Fund

It's important to note that the Chosen Charity of the Year initiative is distinct from the Trafford Farm Fund. While the Trafford Farm Fund typically provides one-off grants to individuals for skill development, the Charity of the Year Scheme focuses on broader support for an entire organisation.
