Exploring Careers within the Agriculture and Horticulture Industry 16 Mar

At the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, we are passionate about our continued engagement with secondary schools, giving students the opportunity to explore the world of work within the agriculture and horticulture industry. Through the ‘Exploring Careers’ project we are launching a series of videos and online resources showcasing the multitude of careers within the agriculture and horticulture industry. Different representatives from across the industry are providing short videos sharing their passion, knowledge and expertise, supporting young people to gain a better understanding of the careers and opportunities available within the sector.

By shining a light on the industry, we are broadening horizons and raising awareness of possibilities that the young people may never have even imagined! Hopefully we will also inspire some to join an incredibly exciting, interesting and rewarding industry.

Accompanying each of the specific career videos will be information to support the young people on their journey. A useful tool that we are creating for each career is a progression ladder from Level 1 through to Level 7 qualifications, which identifies the steps needed (necessary skills and qualifications) to achieving the desired career goal. Thanks to Riseholme College and the University of Lincoln for supporting with this.

If anybody would like to get involved in this exploring careers project, or knows of someone who might be interested in doing some filming providing an overview of their career, then please do get in touch with Rosie Crust (rcrust@lincolnshireshowground.co.uk).

It’s a great opportunity to shine a light on your industry and inspire and encourage the next generation of workers!
