Sophia Williamson joins the team! 25 Jul

What did you do before coming to the Showground?

Before I started working at the Showground I worked at the DoubleTree by Hilton as a Wedding and Events Sales Executive for 3 years. After studying Events Management at University, the role not only cemented my love for events but it also helped to develop my skills and knowledge within the industry. With the Showground being one of the largest venues in the county it was definitely an opportunity that couldn’t be missed when the role became available and I am thrilled to be a part of the amazing team here at the Showground!

What has been your favourite event at the Showground so far?

Having started just a few weeks before the Show it would be wrong to say that it hasn’t been my favourite event so far. To see the Showground so full of life and the variety of audiences it attracts, it truly is the best showcase for the venue!

What is your specialist skill?

I would say my calm nature can always lend its hand in stressful or challenging situations.

Describe your job in 3 words

Complex, exciting and rewarding.

What are you looking forward to at the Showground in 2019/2020?

I am really looking forward to seeing the fantastic array of events that are already in the diary come to flourishment. I am also looking forward to the refurbishment of our Exhibition Hall at the start of 2020. This will see the hall stripped back and revamped to provide us with a refreshing new indoor flexible space for prospective clients which will not just be amazing for exhibitions but charity dinners, conferences and many more diverse events here at the Showground.

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I would say that knowing all the lyrics to most songs on the radio (or at least pretending to know them…) is about as exciting as my interesting facts get!
