From Irish Draught horses to working hunter ponies, the equine events have always played an important role in the Lincolnshire Show. Over the years the show jumping competitions, scurry classes and heavy horse turnouts have proved a popular attraction in the Main Ring.

Equine Prize Schedule packs for the 124th Lincolnshire Show 2008 were posted out in February. The pack includes a schedule, one booking form, three entry forms and a Show Regulations/Health Declaration Card.

You will automatically receive an Equine Prize Schedule if you exhibited last year. If you do not receive a schedule please send a self-addressed A5 envelope with TWO first-class stamps to the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-de-Lings, Lincoln LN2 2NA.

Alternatively you can view and download the equine schedule and entry forms online. To enter a class you will need to print out and complete:

  • a booking form
  • an entry form for each horse/pony
  • a Show Regulations/Health Declaration Card

Please post the completed forms to the above address and include the necessary payment. Cheques should be made payable to the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society.

Membership

If you do not have the appropriate horse or pony membership to satisfy the conditions for your chosen class you will need to apply for membership to the relevant society or association.

Please write on your show entry form ‘APPLIED FOR’. Once you have received your membership details please forward them on to the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society office so we can complete your entry for this year’s Lincolnshire Show.

Closing Dates

The closing date for horse and pony entries for the 2008 show is 15th April 2008.

The closing date for show jumping competitions for the 2008 show is 29th April 2008.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to enter a class?

The entry fees for each class can be found in the Livestock and Equine Prize Schedules.

Which day are the horses judged?

Most of the horse classes such as the Ridden Hunter and In-Hand Shires are judged on Wednesday. The horse ring timetable can be found in the front of the prize schedule.

Which day are the ponies judged?

The pony classes, including the Children’s Riding Ponies and the Show Hunter Ponies, are judged on Thursday. The pony ring timetable can be found in the front of the prize schedule.

Which day is the Private Driving?

The Private Driving class is usually the first display to be held in the Main Ring on Wednesday and starts at around 8.45am.

Which day is the Scurry Driving?

Scurry Driving takes place on both days. The small scurry will be held on Wednesday and the large scurries on Thursday in the Main Ring. The Championship takes place on Thursday.

Which day is the Junior Team Relay Competition?

The Junior Team Knock-out Competition will be judged on Thursday in the Main Ring. Sixteen local pony and riding clubs will take part in this highly competitive and exciting event.

Will I receive a VAT receipt for my entries?

All entries will receive a VAT receipt. Entries are processed on a daily basis so please send your entries in early.

When will my tickets arrive?

Exhibitor tickets, passes and numbers and the updated rings programme will be posted out to you at the end of May or in early June.

When is the prize money sent out?

The prize money will be posted out to prize winners in July or August. If however you still haven’t received your prize money by the end of August please contact the society office on 01522 522900 or 01522 524240.

What time are the classes judged?

The horse and pony rings programmes are in the Equine Prize Schedule. The rings programme will be available on the Lincolnshire Show web site in June and in the Equine Catalogue which will be available on show days priced £4.
