The doors will open for the first time at the UK’s largest purpose-built green conference and events centre at the 124th Lincolnshire Show.

The team at Lincolnshire Events Centre is working with West Lindsey District Council to help local firms expand their business networks. With three successful events under their belt, West Lindsey District Council agreed that the impressive facilities within the new EPIC Centre would bring an attractive new dimension to their events.

Scientific innovation and carbon stewardship on farms are the two subjects under discussion at the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s annual Spring Lecture next week.

The Lincolnshire Agricultural Society has appointed a commercial manager to look after its events at the Lincolnshire Showground and the soon-to-be-opened EPIC Centre, the UK’s first purpose-built green events centre.

Rain failed to dampen the spirits of the 200 or more people who witnessed the topping out of Lincolnshire’s newest and greenest exhibition and conference venue at the Lincolnshire Showground on Thursday 20th March 2008.

The EPIC Centre, the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society’s newly built, environmentally-conscious Exhibition and Conference facility, will open its doors to over 67,000+ visitors during the 124th Annual Lincolnshire Show.

The launch of the EPIC Centre (the UK’s largest purpose-built, green Exhibition and Conference venue) is much anticipated and is the major attraction at this summer's Show.

A Sustainable Living Exhibition which will be the centrepiece of the 124th Lincolnshire Show (18th and 19th June 2008) is the result of a new partnership between the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society and Clydesdale Bank.

European Championship 2007 team gold medalist Oliver Townend will head up a high-class field at the Lincolnshire Horse Trials on 14th to 16th March 2008.

Extract from Jim Godfrey’s address at the UN for the launch of the International Year of the Potato.

“The United Nations has declared 2008 the International Year of the Potato recognising the significance of potatoes and the great contribution potatoes have played in feeding the growing world population and in the social and cultural heritage to many communities.  World potato production is about 320 million tonnes per year and this makes potatoes the most important root and tuber food crop in the world.  Its food productivity per hectare of land is about 4 times greater than that of cereals and the tubers can be harvested before the cop reaches maturity thus providing an important role in food security which is so critical to many families.  Potatoes are the fastest expanding food crop in sub-Saharan Africa with a 225% expansion in the last 10 years.  India has set a goal to double potato production in the next 5 years.  And the People’s Republic of China has included potatoes in their 11th five year plan thus recognising the role of potatoes to both food security and their rural social reform programme.”
